Manually Applying an OTA to the Nexus 6P running Oreo

In order to apply the latest OTA from Google, follow the below steps.

1. Download the latest OTA file for Angler to your computer from

2. Download the latest TWRP image for the Nexus 6P from

3. If you are rooted, download the appropriate root zip file. I recommend Magisk Root from Copy to the internal storage on the Nexus.

4. Backup your phone!!! Apps, storage, etc… just in case. Titanium Backup works well, as well backing up from TWRP recovery. (We are not responsible for any data loss! Use at your own risk!). I recommend using a Nexus 6p compatible usb drive.

5. Make sure you have the latest version of adb and fastboot.

6. Turn on USB debugging on the Nexus.

7. Disable your screen security!!! If you do not do so, the phone will remain encrypted and you will lose all of your data.

8. Attach the Nexus phone to your computer using the usb cable and follow the below commands.

adb devices
adb reboot bootloader

9. From the bootloder screen, press the volume down button twice until you see recovery. Press the power button to enter recovery mode.

10. If you already have TWRP installed, select the advanced options and ADB sideload. The connect your USB cable once again. The enter the following command, with the file name and path referring to the latest OTA file you downloaded in one of the previous steps.

adb sideload {path-to} (latest version will be a different filename.)

11. Reboot the phone, and let it complete the full startup procedure.

12. Disconnect the USB cable if it is still attached.

13. Power down the phone completely.

14. Next, press and hold Volume Down and Power, both at the same time.
Stop holding the buttons when the Fastboot options are loaded.

Fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.2.2-0-angler.img
